Eucharistic Adoration is every Wednesday evening from 6-7 pm in St. Joseph's Chapel.
Jesus Waits For Us In This
Sacrament of Love
What is Eucharist?
During the Mass the priest (at the time of the consecration) speaks these words as he holds the communion host, "...He took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is My body, which will be given up for you." When the priest says "this is My body", it is at that instantwhen, through the miracle of transubstantiation, the bread and wine, truly become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus! It is His true Presence in the form of bread and wine! It is Christ! We should all be in such awe! Jesus himself instituted this Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist in order to remain with mankind until the end of time.
What is Eucharistic Adoration?
Eucharistic Adoration is the practice of worshipping/praying before Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament exposed in a monstrance on an altar. It involves the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us. We remain silent in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because of His Infinite love for us!
If the Pope himself would give you a special invitation to visit him in the Vatican, this honor would be nothing in comparison to the honor that Jesus himself bestows upon you with the invitation of visiting Him in the Blessed Sacrament. Jesus remains hidden to us in the Blessed Sacrament under the appearance of bread, because He is calling us to faith, that we may come to Him in humility. “Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the Sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.” (St. Alphonsus Liguori)
The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet Him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease (Catechism Catholic Church; 1380). Let us love being with the Lord. There we can speak with Him about everything! When Mother Teresa was asked, “What would save the world?” She replied, “My answer is prayer. What we need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer.”
